125 exclusive number plates auction on Sat

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai will auction exclusive number plates for vehicles and motorbikes on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at its head office.

A press statement issued by RTA’s Licensing Agency said the 125 distinguished number plates will be put up for the auction. Registration for the auction is available on March 20 – 25 through the Main Customer Service Center, Unified Services Center and RTA portal. Registration will also be possible on the auction day from 02:30 pm to 04:30 pm.

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicle Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, said: "Based on the successes of the previous editions of the public auctions, we, at the RTA, are always keen on holding these public auctions to issue new distinguished numbers to the interested individuals besides the online auctions which are attributing a considerable public attention from all community segments."

Nimaat said the auction will feature about 125 distinguished vehicle number plates of 2, 3, 4 and 5-digits of categories K, J and I in addition to 15 plates for motorbikes including 5 three-digit plates. Vehicle number plates on issue include distinguished binary numbers such as ‘K 20’ and ‘J 44’ for instance," said the Director of RTA Vehicle Licensing.

It is note-worthy that bidders interested in taking part in the auction has to submit a cheque amounting to Dh10,000 as a deposit refundable in case no successful bid is made.
