15 hours fasting this Ramadan @ 46°C

The holy month of Ramadan this year will be very hot, with temperatures hitting a maximum of 46 degree C.

Nourul-Haq Ashraf, official, Calendar Unit, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Dubai, has forecast that the average temperature during the holy month of Ramadan this year will be around 44 ° C with approximately 15 hours of fasting.

Speaking to Emirates24|7, Ashraf said the fasting hours will also be longer with the time period between dawn and dusk expected to be around 15 hours in the beginning of the month, which is expected to gradually decrease to 14.40hrs.

During the first 10 days of Ramadan [July 9-18], the temperature will be around 44° C, which will rise to 46° C and then decrease to 43° C towards the end of Ramdan, Ashraf explained.

Between July 19-28, day time temperatures are expected to hit 46° C, with sand storms until midnight on some days. There will be a rise in humidity, as well.

Between July 29 and August 7, humidity in coastal areas will increase with the emergence of high clouds in the Arabian Gulf. Day time temperatures will be around 45° C, which will decline to 43° C .

Ashraf called on residents who fast to stay away from heat as much as possible and eat healthy.
