Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) carried out 17 inspection drives across the emirate during Ramadan and Eid.

The inspection campaigns, held mainly to ensure that facilities follow safety rules and regulations set by the food control authority, covered various types of food facilities such as restaurants, bakeries, factories and catering services in Al Ain, Western Region and Abu Dhabi city.

ADFCA issued 156 warnings and handed over 63 notices to various facilities.

While 134 facilities were found to be abiding all the rules and regulations perfectly, a total of 7 facilities were slapped with fines for violating the rulebook.

Food weighing 37.4 kg were found to be sub-standard.

“During summer and Ramadan we increase inspection drives. The increased level of temperature during the summer poses high risk on food safety. Also, the increased demand and subsequent consumer visit to food facilities necessitates the need for extra monitor and control,” said Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director of Communication and Community Service Division of ADFCA.

“We are focusing on spreading awareness during our routine and surprise inspections. The drive also help us to monitor facilities and take adequate measures.”
