Two Indian men suffered serious injuries in a road crash on Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road on Sunday evening.

The mishap occured at 10.00pm, on the road opposite Global Village in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

Three cars were involved in the accident. When a vehicle signaled to pull out to the right, because of a problem with the tire, the vehicle behind gave way to the motorist. However, a third vehicle could not respond fast enough and crashed into the second vehicle, reports the Traffic Department of Dubai Police.

Injured were the driver and the passenger of the third car, while the driver of the second and first car remained free of injuries.
Dubai Police tweeted that three lanes had been closed due to the accident, and advised road users to drive with caution.

According to an eye-witness there were six to seven ambulances on the spot. Traffic coming from Sharjah was halted.
Dubai Police advised that before taking the road, one should always check the tires of the vehicle, and at least once per year the vehicle should be checked all together.

However, the motorist of the vehicle with the failing tire responded to the situation in correct manner by pulling out to the right. The crash could have been avoided if the driver of the third vehicle had paid more attention.

One should always be on the outlook for potential hazard, and keep a safe distance and speed in order to respond to possible hazards, commented Dubai Police.
