Two children died in Sharjah after falling from the windows of their apartments while they were left alone at home by the mothers.

A 4-year-old Arab girl fell to her death when she climbed onto a chair placed near the window of her 9th floor apartment.

The girl's mother said she left the child alone at home when she went out but was surprised to see the child missing when returned.

Central Operations Room of Sharjah Police received a call from a resident on Tuesday at 6:10 am about the incident and quickly moved to the scene. But the child had already expired due to the injuries.

In another incident, a three-year-old Pakistani girl plunged to death from her 7th floor apartment in Sharjah after climbing on a chair at home.

Aliza Haji climbed on the chair to reach a small opening in the wall before losing her balance and falling down in Al Qassimiya neighbourhood.

The girl died on the spot after falling off the building on Monday night, adding that police were investigating the incident.

The girl's mother told police that she had left the child at home to pick up her elder daughter from the school.

Sharjah police said five children with ages from one to four years have fallen from the windows since the beginning of this year.
