Abu Dhabi Municipality has closed 20 outlets for violating the federal law banning sale of tobacco near mosques, educational facilities and residential areas.

The municipality said in a press statement that this step comes within the framework of the emirate’s municipal system to protect the health and safety of members of the community and provide a safe and clean environment.

The move will also help get rid of negative habits that can threaten safety of individuals and reflect negatively on the health of the community, Al Bayan newspaper reported quoting a statement from the Abu Dhabi Municipality.

The statement said that 109 samples of tobacco materials were examined in laboratory to ensure that tobacco is free from any narcotic substance.
