25 caught for labour law violations in Al Ain

The UAE Ministry of Labour (MoL) has recently caught 25 workers over violation of labour laws and regulations during two inspection campaigns in Al Ain city, launched in conjunction with Al Ain Police Directorate.

The campaign comes within the framework of monitoring irregularities in the labour market to ensure compliance with Federal Law No. 8 of 1980. 

Mohsin Ali Al Nasee, Director of Inspection Department – Abu Dhabi, said the ministry's keenness to implement such inspection campaigns on regular basis, was to monitor the commitment of the facilities within the private sector to the regulations to safeguard workers' rights and interests of the employers.

“More than 300 organisations were inspsected. The two inspections assured adherence of 287 organisations to the laws and that they are not committing any violations,” he added.

He added that in the first inspection campaign, they found out that 13 workers working illegally at eight organisations. In the other campaign, they found out 11 workers working at five organisations illegally.

 He pointed out that as per the laws, anyone who hires workers illegally in the country will be fined Dh50,000 per worker. “This also applies to those who bring workers on their visas and then let them go and work for others illegally.”

Commenting on the campaigns, Eisa Al Yahyaei, First Inspector of the Inspections Department in Al Ain, said that the campaigns were part of the ministry’s strategies to monitor the labour market and punish those who break the law.
