3 arrested on charges of kidnap and assault

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance has sentenced three Asians to one year in jail followed by deportation on grounds of kidnapping and confining.

SKM, 29, partner, RKM, 32 and SKM, 38, both salesmen, were found guilty of kidnapping and assaulting KM in a flat located in the Russian Cluster of the International City.

Other two identified as RBL, 37 electrician, Indian and KMA, 34, Bangladeshi machine operator received six months in jail for criminal complicity charge.

The 28-year old victim testified that on August 31, 2011 at around 1pm and while he was in Al Rolla area in Sharjah he received a call from a Bangladeshi who introduced himself as Kawthar and asked to meet him in the fish market in Sharjah to discuss about certain issues.

“I went there and after fifteen minutes, six people including three whom I work with approached me and assaulted me. They dragged me into their car and then drove to Dubai. They took me to a flat where they beat me up again and tied me up accusing me of stealing their money.,” the victim KMA claimed.

“At around 11 when they went to have dinner, I took advantage of their absence and untied myself. I rushed to the window and shouted for help when the men heard me and came back to the flat to tie me again. Half an hour later, police arrived, released me and arrested the accused,” he testified.

First policeman Adel Ismaeel testified that at around 11.30pm on August 31, police was notified about a person who was attempting to commit suicide. When the police reached the location described by the caller, no one opened the door. “We broke the door, released the victim and arrested the accused,” he testified.

Forensic reported had wounds on his hand that could have resulted from being tied with a rope.
