Abu Dhabi police arrested three Bangladeshi men caught selling SIM cards for just Dh1 each and a search showed they had nearly 2,160 of those cards.

Police said the three were selling the GSM cards at a bus station in the capital and they were seized while trying to sell one SIM to a police detective who happened to be there.

CID director Colonel Rashid Mohammed Bursheed said all the SIM cards were working, adding that one of them admitted they have bought the cards from an unknown person in another emirate and that the cards were part of a promotion offer.

“They were arrested because they were involved in an illegal and unlicensed trade. They said they had bought the cards for 75 fils each,” he said.
