3-day weekend for UAE: Thursday official paid holiday for private sector employees

Thursday, 21st September, 2017 has been declared an official paid holiday for all Federal Ministries employees to celebrate the coming Islamic New Year, Al Hijri 1439. Official duty will resume on Sunday, 24th September, in implementation of the directives of the UAE Cabinet.

The decision was based on the Executive Regulations of the Human Resources Law in the Federal Government and its amendments.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources conveyed its sincerest greetings and blessings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates, and the Arab and Islamic nations.

Private sector to observe Hijri New Year holiday on Thursday

The private sector will observe Thursday (21st September), the first day of Muharram, as a public paid holiday to mark the Hijri New Year 1439, according to a circular issued by Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Saqr Ghobash extended his sincerest greetings and blessings to the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and the Rulers of the Emirates.

He also congratulated the government and people of the UAE as well as expatriate residents on the glorious occasion and wished further progress, prosperity and glory to the UAE and to Arab and Islamic nations.
