3 days to go for Eida Dubai... beat the rush

With just three days left for the Emirates ID deadline to kick in, Dubai residents are advised that as long as they register and file for renewal, they are in the green. If not, their days will be numbered and fined, with Dh20 for each passing day, with the maximum fine totaling to Dh1,000.

“Filling in the ID card application at any typing centre in the emirate of Dubai before 01/06/2012 will avoid the customers the fines,” verified Ayesha Al Rayesi, Project Manager, Planning & Quality, Acting PR and Marketing manager.

“Once you have registered, then you won’t be fined. The cards might take 1-2 weeks, or even a month, to be delivered but that’s OK,” clarified reported a staff at a typing centre in Rashidya.

As long as the customers have paid up they must retain the receipts in order to avoid the penalty. The Dubai companies have also been urged to communicate with the managers of the Dubai registration center to organise individual timings for their workers so as to avoid the last-minute rush, ahead of the deadline.

The Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) confirmed that “the registration process at all Emirates ID registration centres across UAE is improving and going smoothly”, with the working hours extended for the main centres, from 7am to 8pm, to accommodate all the applications.

“In the first 3 weeks of May, Emirates ID has received 457,536 applications for issuing ID cards (new and renewal). And this year, it has recorded an increase of 140 per cent over May. In 2011, a total of 191,554 applications have been received,” informed Al Rayesi.

Emirates ID is operation in Dubai through 15 centers, 6 of them are attached to the preventive medicine centers and managed by IMAS. The main centers are at Barsha, Rashidya, Karama, Immigration dept., Emirates Post, DIFC, Dafza, Emirates and Governor Dept. The centers attached to the preventive medicine center are located at Muhaisnah, Baraha, Knowledge Village, Satwa, JAFZA and Al Quoz Mall.

Meanwhile, the Eida called on new expatriates, who do not hold residence visas, to fill out the registration form at a typing center and then visit the registration center attached to the preventive medicine centre immediately after conducting the medical examination. They also asked residents in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, whose rental agreements expire before December 31, 2012, to register for the ID cards before the tenancy renewal.

Eida texts Dubai final notice

Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has so far dispatched 23,774 text messages in Arabic and English languages to the representatives of private sector companies in Dubai to alert their employees to register for their identity cards before June 01, 2012, to avoid fines.

Ayesha Al Raisi, Acting Director of the project, Public Relations Officer and Marketing at Eida said sending the text messages is part of the media and advertisement campaign to remind the Dubai inhabitants of the need to register for the identity card before May 31.

She added that the text messages on mobile phones were addressed to the companies due to the fact that a big percentage of population of Dubai is not yet registered to receive the identity card, especially the workers.

Al Raisi said that the Eida addressed the text messages to the companies in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour.
