Three Bangladeshis allegedly beat a compatriot to death over a financial dispute at a remote area in Dubai, the Dubai Court of First Instance heard on Tuesday.

Police began investigations when the victim, a vegetable vendor, was found dead with multiple injuries in the desert off Manama street.

Prosecution records show that the victim and the main accused, who is also a vendor, had a long standing dispute over the payment of Dh3,500, which the defendant allegedly owed to the victim.

On July 16, the three defendants called the victim and asked him to come to the area where his body was found under the pretext of making the payment.

When the victim arrived, the three allegedly assaulted him with an Iron rode which they carried with them and kept beating him until he collapsed and died.

The trio then escaped with the victim’s mobile phone and wallet.

However, when the police began investigations into the matter the zeroed in on one of the defendants, a worker and arrested him from the Moroccan cluster of the International City, where he lives.

Upon interrogation, he admitted to his involvement in the crime. The police later arrested the two others, however, all three of them gave contradictory statements.

The forensic report confirmed that the death was caused due to severe head injuries from beatings the victim received.

The victim’s brother, in his statement to the prosecutor, said that the disagreements had occurred between the victim and the main defendant, the vendor. The brother alleged that he had seen the defendant and the victim fighting before. The victim went missing for three days from his room and all the roommates, except the accused, went looking for him.

When the brother asked the accused about the deceased, the defendant lost his cool and denied knowing anything about his whereabouts.

According to the brother, the defendant refused to speak to anyone and stayed in his room ever since the victim disappeared. The body was later found in a sandy location.
