Three Indian expatriates  died in a major road accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday morning, after their car crashed against another vehicle, driven by an Emirati.

The early morning accident occurred near Shams in Ras Al Khaimah and the three Indians included two men who had just gotten jobs, having come in to the UAE only a week ago.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, a family source said Basheer Thayil, 38, who has been running a grocery in Ras Al Khaimah, was driving home after visiting Dubai to meet few friends during the Eid holidays.

The other two deceased are only identified as Hashim and Sameer. All three hail from Karunagappally, Kerala.

According to sources, there was a head-on collision and all three died on the spot.

There was no confirmation on the state of the Emirati driver after the incident.

Their bodies are currently at the Ras Al Khaimah Government Hospital.

Naser Veliyil, an official from the Karunagappally Residents Association of UAE (Karuna), said the organisation is working with the family members to repatriate their bodies.

“Basheer has been running a grocery shop in Ras Al Khaimah for about six years now and he just returned from India. He came back with the two newly recruited salesmen to work in his new grocery.

“One of the new salesmen who died in the accident arrived just two days ago and the second one came six days ago.”
