The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced two jobless people to three months in jail followed by deportation for setting fire to an apartment in Muhaisina area after burgling it.

According to the records, AAA, 18, Egyptian, and MHS, 20, Yemeni, with a third referred to the juvenile court, on July 17, made a fire in flat No. 209 in building No.720 in Muhaisna 4 belonging to Abdul Rahman Fares, a 50-year-old Egyptian.

They are also accused of stealing a lap top, a digital camera, four expensive watches, and jewellery in addition to personal documents kept in a bag.

The victim testified that when he was in his home country, he got a phone call from his brother who told him that his flat had been set on fire. Later, he came to know that it was burgled as well.

Police suspected that the fire was deliberate. They caught the accused who confessed that they came to the flat the following night after burgling it and set the fire to wipe out evidence of burglary. The accused confessed to the crime.
