Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), IT and telecom and healthcare are the three bright sectors in the UAE as demand soars for jobs in these sectors.

According to the latest Monster Employment Index Middle East Index, BFSI saw a jump of 30 per cent in online hiring levels in the month of April as compared to the year before. IT and telecom saw a 24 per cent jump and healthcare registered a 15 per cent jump over the same period.

Overall, the UAE market picked up with a 16 per cent jump in hiring year-on-year across industries.

Regionally, BFSI showed an impressive growth. This sector took lead in online recruitment activity, showing a 79 per cent increase for the region, and a 30 per cent increase for the UAE, as compared to the same period last year.

“We attribute this growth to the positive developments in the region’s financial and banking sector, including the regulatory updates and the visible push from local governments to adhere to international best practices, good corporate governance and transparency,” says Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India, Middle East, South East Asia and Hong Kong) .

On the other hand, the most lackluster performance was registered by oil and gas sector in the country with a -15 per cent dip seen over the year. This was followed by production/manufacturing, automotive and ancillary with a -11 per cent dip and engineering, construction and real estate registering a -3 per cent growth.

The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in Middle-East based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.
