In addition to the 5000 dirhams fee for sponsoring housemaids, Indian Embassy have further complicated the procedure by requiring hundreds of attestation and 9200 deposit. This is promoting 2 things, parents risking their child safety because they have no maid and secondly huge increase in the number of illegal Indian maids in Abu Dhabi.

What kind of parents are these people? They should've been prosecuted the first time when they left their own child all alone. My heart ached reading this sad sad story.

The negligence and irresponsible attitude of the parents has resulted in the death of a child despite an earlier wake-up call.

Having a maid (Dh5,000 + expenses + cost of food and accommodation) is really too high for families with average salaries. There is no support system for expats here from extended families like grandparents or near relatives. Even cost of sponsoring parents is too high (medium expenses with high deposit of Dh5,000). If this was allowed freely, I am sure many expats would take that option and this will help solve this problem of 'home alone' kids to a great extent.

The government should review the cost of sponsoring housemaids. Dh5,000 is a huge amount for those parents who earn an average salary. That's why most of the parents sacrifice the safety of their children.

An 'unfortunate incident'? This is negligence! You wouldn't let your child play with a loaded gun, would you? After what happened just a few weeks ago, it makes you wonder how much they cared about the poor child!

I don't understand what is so important for parents that they leave their children alone or without proper care? We have seen moms going shopping leaving kids at home. Some parents go for a stroll leaving kids home alone. The list of parents negligence is very long! they should be held responsible & should be punished.

The parents should be solely held responsible, nobody else.
