4 die, 14 hurt in 4 Dubai accidents in 24 hours

Four people died and 14 wounded in four traffic accidents during the past 24 hours in Dubai.

Meanwhile, according to Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution statistics 12 people have died since the beginning of March in traffic accidents in Dubai.

Speaking of the latest mishaps, Dubai Traffic Police spokesman Salah Bofruch Falasi said one accident happened in Al Quoz industrial area. A heavy truck, driven by a Pakistani, 39, collided with a bus, killing two bus passengers. 12 people of different Asian nationalities, who sustained light to severe injuries, were taken to Rashid and Al Baraha hospitals.  The truck driver tried to escape from the scene but people present there caught and confined him until police arrived. A technical committee will determine the circumstances of the accident.

Falasi said the second accident happened on Shaikh Khalifa Street. A motorcycle, driven by a young Indian (age 21) hit a street light pole and  a pedestrian crossing sign and died of severe injuries in the hospital. Another young Indian (age 23) was moderately hurt in the accident.

The third accident, which happened on Tuesday morning on Dubai Bypass Road, involved a vehicle driven by an Asian who was seriously injured.

In the fourth accident, which also happened on Tuesday morning, a 37-year-old Ethiopian died after the car he drove hit a tree.
