4 die in accidents over weekend in Dubai

Four people died and four others sustained minor to moderate injuries in five accidents over the last weekend in Dubai.

Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, director- general of the Directorate of Traffic, said the first accident happened last Tuesday morning in Ras Al Khor where a man was hit by a vehicle while crossing a road. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

On the same day, two vehicles collided on Oud Metha Road, killing one person and injuring two moderately.

On Friday night, an Asian was hit by a Nissan Patrol vehicle while crossing Al Mayoros Street behind Mazaya Centre and died on the spot.

On Saturday morning, a Peugeot ran over a man on Gulf Street, killing him on the spot. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Major General Zafeen said on Sunday evening a Filipino operator of an overhead crane died in an accident. The crane hit an electric wire, sparking a fire. The operator tried to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher but failed. He suffered severe burns which led to his death.
