4 fake cops accused of stealing petrol tanker

Four Arab men posting as policemen are on trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of stealing a petrol tanker after overpowering its Asian driver, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

The driver had told police he was stopped by the four who pretended to be police detectives and wanted to see his ID.

He said they then pulled a knife and drove him out of town, where they tied him up and seized his petrol tanker.

The four denied the charges in court on Tuesday prompting the judge to adjourn hearings to October 29.
