400 car number plates up for online auction

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 400 distinguished license plates comprising various codes. Registration for the auction started on April 12 and remains open for a week. The bidding will start at 8am on April 19, and continue for three days.

Sultan Abdullah Al Marzouki, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, anticipated huge participation in the forthcoming online auction, especially as it includes eight codes anticipated by licensing plate enthusiasts since the start of this year, namely K, L, M, N, O, P, Q & R codes.

“The auction”, says Al Marzouki, “is held in response to the wishes of customers interested in obtaining plates through online auctions as they get the liberty of choosing the numbers they fancy in a hassle-free environment.”

“The participation in the auction requires registration via a number of communication channels such as visiting RTA website (www.rta.ae), or any RTA Customer Service Center in Dubai to seek assistance in completing the registration process. The potential bidder is required to pay a sum of Dh5,000 as a security deposit before the start of bidding by means of a credit card, a cheque addressed to the RTA, or in cash. The department undertakes to refund the deposited security amounts to bidders after the end of the auction, according to the way in which the deposit was made.

“A team from RTA’s call centre has been furnished with all information related to the auction and stands ready to respond to any public inquiries made through the toll-free number 8009090 about procedures of participation or payment,” said Al Marzouki.
