The Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police seized 489 vehicles and revoked 90 driving licences in February for violating traffic laws.

Major Salah Abdullah Al Humairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section, said traffic control has been tightened on external and internal roads in Al Ain city, ahead of the upcoming spring break for students.

He urged motorists, especially youngsters, to obey traffic laws and speed limits. He warned them against racing on the roads, ignoring red lights and using phones while driving. He pointed out that punishment will be severe for all violators.

Al Humairi called upon educational staff of schools, as well as families, to support efforts to protect the youth from road accidents. He urged youngsters to avoid irresponsible behaviour on the roads during their spring break.

“Young people aged between 18-30 years old caused 53 per cent of the road accidents in Al Ain last year. So educating this social group is essential for road safety,” he explained.

Major Al Humairi also called upon motorists to obey traffic laws to avoid their vehicles from being seized and their driving licences from being revoked.

“Vehicles are impounded when 24 black points have been accumulated or when a dangerous violation has occurred that requires immediate action,” he added.
