Motorists have to comply with five rules for decorating vehicles as part of the 43rd National Day celebrations, Abu Dhabi Police have said.

The five rules are:

- No changes to the colour of the vehicle.

- No loading the vehicle more than its proper capacity.

- Passengers are prohibited from putting any parts of their bodies out of the car, or the sunroof.

- Do not obscure or colour the windshield or the glass on the driver’s side.

- No hiding the front or rear plate number.

According to ‘Emarat Al Youm’ the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Abu Dhabi Police, have said that breaking of these rules for National Day will lead to the vehicle being confined.

Decorations of cars will be allowed from November 22 to December 6.

Roads will be controlled by radars to monitor any traffic violations  and any uncivilised behaviour.

The Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that it will apply Article 1 of the Traffic Act – ‘Driving to endanger the Public’ which provides impounding the vehicle for a month, in addition to a fine of Dh2,000 and 12 black points.
