50% cut in Sharjah traffic fines begins today

Motorists in Sharjah are happy with a new directive implementing a reduction in traffic fines.

Effective today [Sunday, April 7, 2013] Sharjah motorists can avail of a 50 per cent reduction in accumulated traffic fines.
 
The rule will be applicable for the next four months, until August 6, according to the law issued by the executive council of Sharjah government.
 
Only fines issued by Sharjah Police before April 8 will be eligible for reduction. Notices of violations by any other authority are not covered under the law.
 
Major-General Humaid Mohammed Al Hadeedi, Police chief, Sharjah Police, had called on all motorists to avail off the offer and start afresh.
 
“The move aims to help motorists wade through the financial burden a fine creates and also to encourage them to drive carefully avoid traffic violations,” he added.
 
Colonel Sultan Abdullah Al Khayal, Director, Information and Public Relations, Sharjah Police, called on the public to quickly clear the backlog payment and adhere by traffic rules.
