A 31-year-old Emirati man was killed after his car split into two when it banged into a power pole because of high speed in Fujeirah, according to police.

Two other Emirates aged 19 and 20 years died after their vehicle banged into a power pylon in the eastern oasis town of Al Ain and police blamed high speed.

The driver in Fujeirah, identified as GRM, was on his way towards Khorfakkan when he lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the pole on the road in Gadfa area.

Police said the vehicle split into two because of the strong impact and that the injured driver was stuck inside before he was pulled out by the civil defence men and rushed to hospital, where he later died.

“Initial investigation showed that the motorists was driving at high speed that caused him to lose control of his car, which swerved off the road and hit the pylon,” media and public relations acting manager at Fujeirah police Saeed Al Hasani said.

In two separate accidents on Madam road in Sharjah, three Emirati men were killed and two were seriously injured, police said.

Two of them, aged 16 and 18 years, died after their car rammed into a truck on that road. Their friends rushed to the hospital upon hearing about the crash but they themselves had an accident on the way, resulting in the death of one of them. (Staff)
