60 accidents in 3 hours in Dubai on Sunday

Sixty road accidents, one of them serious, happened in the three hours from 10am to 1pm in Dubai on Sunday, as a result of the change in the weather, according to the operations room of Dubai Police.

The police urged drivers to be cautious in rain, fog or sandstorm which reduce visibility. It also asked drivers to ensure that windshields, windows and lamps of their vehicles are wiped clean before driving. Drivers must also reduce speed, leave a safe distance between vehicle and stick to their lanes except when necessary during uncertain weather conditions.

Weather-related incidents in Abu Dhabi

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police received 1,394 weather-related emergency calls on Saturday and Sunday

388 minor road accidents, all without injuries, took place in the emirate on Saturday.

Submitted Nasser Sulaiman Al Maskari, Director of Operations at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, called on motorists to support the police’s traffic safety initiative during changed weather.

Lt. Col. Jamal Al Ameri, head of public relations at the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, urged drivers and road users to exercise caution while driving.

He stressed the need to reduce speed during the late hours of the night until early morning.
