60 modified vehicles seized for speeding

Sixty cars, motorcycles and quad bikes have been confiscated for speeding and creating maximum noise.

This initiative has been launched by the Sharjah Police to curb illegal modification of vehicles, reports Al Bayan.

The decision was taken by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who ordered to confiscate such vehicles.

These vehicles will not be returned to the owners.

All such workshops involved in illegal modification by altering the speed limit and noise of car will also be shut down.

This move comes after Sharjah residents filed complaints about motorists causing noise and speed nuisances, specially the youth.
 
The police will continue its crackdown on such vehicles till it's completely wiped out.

A committee has been formed to curb the practice and a planned inspection points have been installed in various parts of the city.

Official said that the campaign will continue mostly in residential areas, internal roads and highways.
