A criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah acquitted a 65-year-old Asian businessman in a human trafficking case involving other men who were arrested earlier for turning an apartment rented by the businessman into a prostitution den.
Police had arrested two four Asian persons, including two women, inside the apartment for engaging in prostitution while a third defendant fled the country.
The prosecutor has charged the unnamed businessmen for turning his flat into a “vice den” but his lawyer said there was no evidence showing he was involved, according to the semi official daily 'Al Ittihad'.
“The lawyer based his defence on the fact that the man is too old to be involved in such acts and that he is a well reputed businessman,” it said.
“The presiding judge decided to acquit the businessman and convicted the remaining defendants.”
