Residents in Abu Dhabi will see a rise in their water and electricity bills from January 1, 2015.

The increase in fee structure has been updated online by the Regulation and Supervision Bureau of Abu Dhabi.

Expatriates will have to pay between Dh5.95 and Dh9.90 for every 1,000 litres of water used. Earlier, it was billed at Dh2.20. If it increases the daily consumption limit of up to 700 litres for apartments and over 5,000 litres for villas, they will be charged at Dh9.90.

UAE nationals, who until now were not charged for water consumption, will have to pay. They will be charged between Dh1.70 and Dh1.89 for every 1,000 litres of water consumed. This would also depend on whether they reside in a villa or an apartment.

Now, residents can also calculate their bill by logging on to https://rsb.gov.ae/calculator.

Electricity fees for UAE nationals will remain 5fils for each kilowatt-hour, and an extra 5.5fils will be charged for each kWh exceeding the 30 kWh day-limit.

Electricity fees for expats have increased from 15 fils per kWh to 21 fils per kWh for up to 20 kWh a day for apartments, and up to 200 kWh for villa. Anything exceeding the limit will be charged 31.8 fils for each kWh.
