Weary holiday revellers are facing the post-Eid blues as traffic accidents continue to plague commuters yet another morning, with three accidents reported between 7am and 8am in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, slow moving traffic is also being reported in pockets of Dubai and Sharjah, adding to the morning chaos for several frustrated drivers.

Dubai Police confirmed the reports on Twitter over an accident reported on the former Bypass Road, now Emirates Road.

The authority tweeted: “An accident has been reported on Emirates Road, from Al Ruwaya bridge toward Jebel Ali; please be extra cautious.”

While details of the accident are still unclear, commuter Anjum Qureshi reported of sticky traffic from Karama to Sheikh Zayed Road.

“The Sana junction is a nightmare to cross, with lines visible all the way from Al Jafiliya Metro station, head towards Abu Dhabi,” she said.

Reports have also come in that Sharjah Ring Road and the National Paints junction are both experiencing slow moving traffic; however, no accidents have been reported in the area.

Abu Dhabi

The morning commute across the highway has been no less harrowing for capital residents, with three major accidents reported, including an overturned car.

ADT tweeted: “Overturned car on Sheikh Zayed Road after the second underpass; lane is occupied, use alternatives.”

Commuter Joom, meanwhile, reported of another accident on Salam Street, heading into Abu Dhabi, with the roads completely jammed.

The only good news on this grim morning is the two-car accident, which occurred before Al Saada Bridge has been cleared.

Incidences of traffic accidents have been alarming authorities and residents of late, with statistics issued by the Traffic Coordination Department at the Ministry of Interior yesterday confirming a total of 19 people died and 83 injured occurred across the country in traffic accidents during Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Statistics showed that the total number of traffic accidents between the 7th and 10th of August amounted to 32 accidents; including 16 collisions, nine run-over accidents and seven crashes.
