Adach to hold global archaeology conference
The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) will organise an international conference on archaeology next year in Al Ain.
The conference, which will be held on March 30 and 31, will enjoy the participation of local and international experts.
The conference is part of Adach’s strategy to examine, protect, preserve and promote the rich array of archaeological sites that can be found in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
Adach adopts a comprehensive cultural view which includes both tangible and intangible heritage. It dedicates all its resources to preserving the architectural and archaeological assets of the region, whilst simultaneously working to promote all the aspects of arts and culture that are specific to the UAE.
In conjunction with the conference, the Department of Historic Environment announced the re-launch of its ‘Yearbook of Archaeology’ in the UAE. This book was last published in the seventies, but stopped at the end of the eighties. It is acknowledged to be an excellent source of regional and international information.
Work papers, which will be presented at this conference by Adach, will be published in the next edition of the Yearbook.
A website featuring all the articles published in previous issues, will also be launched in order to make all the information available to researchers in this field.
