An Afghani has been accused of smuggling and possessing drugs.

ZDA, 24, a blacksmith, was arrested upon his arrival at the Dubai International Airport on February 15.

Initially, the customs’ inspectors did not find drugs with him physically.

However, an electronic inspection showed strange bodies in his digestive system. And he was handed over to the Anti Drugs General Department, testified Qasim Mosaad, 33, a policeman.

Sultan Mohammed, 21, a policeman, assigned to guard ZDA upon his arrival at Dubai Hospital, testified that the accused released four capsules when he arrived at the hospital at 5.20am.

Ahmad Ghulam, 45, policeman testified the accused released another 18 capsules at 8.45am and after a couple of hours he released another 24 and 16 capsules respectively.

The accused later admitted that the capsules contained heroin and that he was to hand them over to a person he did not know.

The total drugs on his person weighed 623.07g.

Though his urine test proved positive to hashish active substance, the Dubai Prosecution did not punish him because as per article No 1 of the Federal Penalty Law No3 of 1987, if the substance is consumed outside the country the accused cannot be charged.

The Dubai Criminal Court adjourned for verdict until August 12.
