Rainfall continued yesterday afternoon in Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah, in addition to some north-eastern regions of the UAE.

Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that more rain is expected over the next two days.

The NCMS said that this rain which known locally as ‘Al-Rawayah’ is coming from the sea of Oman.

Col. Jakh also advised motorists to stay away from flooded wadis and such areas affected by heavy rain.

Temperatures dip across the emirates; humidity levels to rise

Cloudy weather in parts of the UAE will give way to rainfall this weekend, even as neighbouring Oman battles thunder activity and possible hailstorms.

The UAE’s forecaster has also stated the Mercury will dip slightly as the weather gradually cools off with the rain; however, a rise in humidity levels will add to the general feeling of muggy climes.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in the UAE has described Friday’s weather as ‘hot in general’, with the climate being ‘hazy at times over some areas, becoming partly cloudy and a chance of some convective clouds by afternoon over the eastern and the southern areas’.

The convective clouds could be associated with rainfall, with the past few days seeing parts of Al Ain and southern areas of the UAE experiencing wet weather, especially along Al Hajjar mountain range.

The NCMS further stated, Friday will experience light to moderate winds in general, freshening during cloud activity.

The forecaster added: “The relative humidity is likely to increase during night and early morning over the coast. Sea will be slight to moderate in Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.”

The weather on Saturday will continue to hot in general, hazy at times over some areas, becoming partly cloudy, with rain clouds expected by afternoon over the eastern and the southern areas.

The Mercury across both days could reach highs of 47 degrees Celsius in the internal areas of the country, with the humidity levels reaching highs of 90 per cent around the coastal areas of UAE.

Even as the UAE battles the heat, neighbouring Oman is expecting a “broad activity of cumulus clouds over Al Hajjar mountains, with scattered thunderstorms, sometimes accompanied by winds and hail.”

Oman Meteorology has stated isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Al Dhofar region, while showers are expected in Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta.
