Less than 24 hours after a fire broke out in a car park of a residential tower in Al Nahda Sharjah, authorities have confirmed a second blaze that erupted in the neighbourhood in the morning on Wednesday.

A resident of Tiger Building in Al Nahda recounted the experience, confirming the incident, which occurred in Block A of the complex.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, A. W., who resides in the same block, said: “The fire broke out in the morning hours of Wednesday. The building has been regularly testing the fire alarm these past few days so many of us didn’t even react when we first heard the alarms go off at around 1.45am.

“It was only after I heard the sound of people running down the stairs that I finally stepped out of my house and noticed the smoke.”

The resident states the fire appeared to have originated from the 19th floor of the tower, which houses 35 floors for residences, along with seven floors for parking and two levels of office space.

Residents of the building were evacuated from the tower, as Civil Defence crews entered the tower.

The authority confirmed the incident, with further details awaited on cause of the blaze and whether anyone was injured in the incident.

A.W. further added: “A resident who lives on the 20th floor told us as he was coming down the stairs, he noticed the apartment right below his home was ablaze, with a fire raging in the kitchen.”

Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 6.30am, with Civil Defence crew still on the scene.

Earlier on Tuesday, Al Nahda Sharjah had another emergency when two vehicles caught fire in a covered car park in Al Kindi residential tower in Sharjah early morning.

Sharjah Civil Defence confirmed the incident, stating the blaze erupted at about 6.30am.

A Civil Defence representative stated: “There were two vehicles that caught fire in Al Kindi building in Sharjah this morning. Civil Defence teams arrived on the scene shortly and brought the blaze under control.”

No injuries were reported in the blaze. The matter is under investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
