Arabic invoices in UAE shops by mid-2017

UAE authorities have told all shopping outlets to ensure their invoices are issued in Arabic language along with English by mid-2017, a newspaper said on Saturday.

About 80 per cent of the shops and other businesses have already started to issue their invoices in those two languages but consumers have complained about errors in Arabic, Emarat Alyoum Arabic language daily said, quoting Hashim Saeed Al Nuaimi, consumer protection director at the Ministry of Economy.

But Nuaimi said such errors are normal as shops are still trying to abide by the Ministry’s decision to have all invoices issued in English and Arabic.

“All shopping outlets in the UAE have been given until mid-2017 to abide by the decision to issue their invoices in both English and Arabic,” he said.

“Besides invoices, the decision also covers enquiry and information desks, and contact centre at those outlets… the Ministry will watch all the outlets at the end of the deadline to ensure they will comply by the decision.”
