Asian dies in collision on Jais mountain

A 33-year-old Asian (MKK) died when he lost control of his vehicle while driving down from Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah.

His vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle driving upwards to the summit of the mountain.

Passengers travelling in both the vehicles suffered injuries.

Police in Ras Al Khaimah confirmed that the deceased was driving the car and was accompanied by three other Asians.

His car veered off-course and got into the other side of the track and subsequently collided with the other vehicle.

The second car was driven by BHA (31-year-old) who was also accompanied by three Asians and they all suffered injuries of varying degree.

The passengers in the deceased car suffered serious injuries.

Ambulances and rescue police patrols immediately reached the accident site and the injured were moved to hospital for treatment.

The incident file has been transferred to the competent authorities to complete the rest of the necessary measures.

Jebel Jais is the highest peak in the UAE and forms part of the Hajar Mountains that begin in the Musandam Peninsula and stretch to Sur in Oman.
