Attack on 90 girls a rumour: Dubai Police

Warn of legal action against promoters of such rumours

Dubai Police have denied rumours circulating on social network sites that 90 women were raped in a mall by a single person, ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper reports.
 
The report cited rumours posted on Twitter under the title ‘Indian raping 90 girls in Dubai Mall’, which was denied by police.
 
Dubai Police called on members of the public to obtain information from official sources and not to pander to malicious rumours promoted via social media.
 
Dubai Police also warned via its Twitter account that it “will take legal action against promoters of such rumours”.
 
Police confirmed that the UAE in general and Dubai in particular, enjoyed the confidence of its citizens, residents and visitors as a safe city for living and working.

It also stressed the ability of competent departments to deal professionally, efficiently and transparently as regards the security of the individual and the happiness of society.
