With Thursday officially heralding the autumn season here in the UAE, residents and visitors can finally heave a sigh of cool relief.

Temperatures are set to drop to a cool 17°C tonight in the country’s internal regions, predicts the weatherman at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the UAE’s official weather forecaster.

The weather in UAE’s mountainous areas is expected to stay cool as well, dropping to 18°C, while coastal cities will see mercury dipping to a very pleasant 22°C tonight, according to the NCMS forecast.

Even as the evenings are expected to get increasingly pleasant as the week progresses, the days, however, will remain relatively hotter, with temperatures expected to tip 41°C on the higher side in the country’s internal areas, while coastal cities will be better placed at maximum temperatures of 38°C while mountainous regions will enjoy a maximum temperature of 31°C today.

The NCMS weather forecast for the day reads: “Relatively hot weather over the internal areas during the daytime, becoming mild to fine weather over some internal and mountainous areas during night.”

It adds: “Some clouds may appear over eastern areas by afternoon.

Light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times. The relative humidity will increase over some western costal areas during night and early morning times, with chance of mist. Sea will be slight to moderate.”

Last week, Saudi astrologers forecasted that the start of autumn on Thursday (October 4) would gradually reduce temperatures in the region.

According to NCMS, the weather will remain mild over the coming few days. Temperatures are also set to drop further over the next few weeks.
