Avoid sticking Quran verses on cars

Muslim car owners sticking verses from Holy Quran on the windscreens of their motor vehicles should not paste them outside the glass as the sticker could get dirty and wasted, according to the Fatwa (Islamic edit) centre at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The Centre was responding to a question by a driver on whether he can paste verses from Holy Quran and other stickers carrying God's name on his car, the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said on Tuesday.

"Such stickers can be placed from inside...they should not be placed on the glass from outside because they will be exposed to dirt and pollutants that cover the car every day," the Centre said.

The Centre said it based its Fatwa on a ruling by old Muslim scholars that any writings carrying Holy Quran verses or such words as God should not be left in a "place which is exposed to dirt or pollution such as walls and coins."
