Baby dies while asleep after death of 5 brothers

An four-year-old Emirati girl in Dhaid died while she was asleep, becoming the sixth family member to die the same way after the demise of five little brothers in the past.

Fatima has just finished playing with her five-year-old brother, Khaled, and went to bed in the afternoon, when she slept for nearly three hours. When her mother tried to wake her up, she found her motionless and her heart had stopped.

Doctors at Dhaid hospital said they were still trying to determine the cause of the death after the mother told them five little sons had died the same way in the past.

“Besides Fatima, the mother has khaled and Mariam aged eight months…the mother said sometimes they both suffer from fits involving breathing difficulty,” Dubai-based Emarat Alyoum Arabic language daily said.

It quoted the mother as saying the sons who had died the same way were aged between 2.5 and four years and that doctors could not determine the exact cause of their death.
