The Dubai Media Office has refuted social media claims of a bacteria-infected drinking water that is reportedly packaged and produced in the emirate.

The government authority has further reiterated the rumours as baseless, and stated the company in question bears no relation to Mai Dubai, which is an established packaged water company in the UAE.

In a statement on its official Twitter account, the Dubai Media Office said: “The Government of Dubai Media Office can confirm that ‘Aab’e Dubai’, which some social networking sites has stated contains  kind of bacteria, is not produced or packaged in Dubai.”

The Media Office continued: “It also bears no relation with Mai Dubai.”

The office added that competent authorities in the emirate reaffirms its commitment to the best international practices and standards with respect to any such products.

In a statement, Mai Dubai also debunked the rumours stating the company produces quality-bottled water to world-class standards.

The bottled-drinking-water company and factory further announced that a report was being passed around regarding an Omani Ministry withdrawing Aab’e Dubai from the Omani market, stating that it was produced in Dubai.

It added: “Mai Dubai would like to clarify that this report does not relate to Mai Dubai and relates to Aab’e Dubai, which is produced in Ajman.”
