Big Bus to stop at AC shelters this summer

Tourists waiting for the Big Bus in Dubai will soon be able to do so in air-conditioned bus shelters.

The Big Bus Tour Company and the Road Transport Authority (RTA) have signed an agreement to install about 20 bus stop poles marking ‘Big Bus Tour’ stops near air-conditioned shelters, so tourists can wait for the big bus in comfort.

Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of Public Transport Agency (PTA) at the RTA, said: “We are happy to support tourist transport providers in Dubai by regulating and authorising the placement of bus stop poles around the city at  RTA bus stops.

“This initiative will add more convenience to tourists and the tourism industry in Dubai, as is the case in other international cities,” he added.

While the number of bus stops on Dubai tour is 22 at present, all but one stop are on public property.

Mike Lees, General Manager of Big Bus Tours Middle East, said: “This Big Bus Tours bus stop initiative is aimed at enhancing Dubai’s tourism infrastructure, regulating hop-on, hop-off bus stops and meeting the expectations of tourists visiting the city.”

The bus stop poles will be set up gradually over the summer and more bus stops will be added in the future, he added.
