Bollywood Khans' Dubai date: SRK, Salman, Aamir together

Get set to welcome all the Bollywood Khans in Dubai in 2016 at the Bollywood Film Studios and Hall of Heroes being built at the Bollywood Parks – part of the over Dh10 billion Dubai Parks and Resorts, a theme park destination, being built in Jebel Ali area.

“The theme parks are set for completion before the end of the third quarter of 2016. In the first full year of operations in 2017, it is expected to attract 6.7 million visits, with significant growth expected over the following four-year period,” Meraas Holding subsidiary said in a statement.

The Bollywood Parks will include a full-size theatre offering live shows and musicals, as well as other attractions and food, beverage and retail outlets.

Targeted at families, young groups, couples and designed to appeal in particular to the Central Asian demographic, the theme park will have 16 attractions and five themed zones: Bollywood Boulevard, Mumbai Chowk, Rustic Ravine, Bollywood Film Studios and Hall of Heroes and Royal Plaza, including Rajmahal theatre. Key movie themes include: 'Rock On!', 'Don', 'Dabangg', 'Lagaan', 'Sholay', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', 'Krrish', 'Ra One' and 'Mughal-e-Azam', according to the company’s prospectus.

Motiongate (spread over 4 million square feet of total land area) will have four themed zones: Studio Central, DreamWorks, Smurfs Village and Sony Pictures Studios.

It will have 27 attractions, including multi-media, 3D and 4D motion simulators, rollercoasters, drop tower and other rides as well as child-oriented attractions.

Key brands/movies include: 'Shrek', 'Madagascar', 'Kung Fu Panda', 'How to Train your Dragon', 'Hotel Transylvania', 'Ghostbusters' and 'The Smurfs', the company prospectus reveals.

Targeted at families with children aged between 2 and 12 years of age, Legoland Dubai, seventh in the world, will comprise six themed zones: Lego City, Adventure, Lego Kingdom, Create, Factory and Miniland. There will be 30 attractions in the park and an expected 10 additional waterpark attractions.

Construction in full swing

According to Dubai Parks and Resorts, a workforce of over 2,500 has been deployed on site to develop an initial area of approximately 16 million square feet.

“Access roads and parking will take shape across an additional nine million square feet of land. The number of construction personnel on-ground at the project is set to increase to 6,500 by the end of 2015,” it said.

Nearly 45 per cent of the utility services are complete, while 40 per cent of work on the power substation has been achieved.

Orders for more than 80 per cent by value of the 42 theme park rides have been placed.

“With the procurement of the majority of the planned rides in place, we have entered a new phase of development. Following a stringent bidding process, we have chosen some of the world’s top players in the entertainment rides industry. Several of the attractions are world-firsts in terms of integrating best-in-class technology and expertise,” said Paul La France, Chief Projects Officer at Dubai Parks and Resorts.

When operational, Dubai Parks and Resorts will offer 73 attractions across three themed parks. The destination will include a four-star resort hotel (Lapita Hotel), and Riverpark.

Emirates 24|7 reported that Dubai Parks and Resorts will be connected to the Metro and other rail links.

"Dubai Parks and Resorts will have excellent local access, with both Metro and rail links being planned to facilitate access to Dubai Parks and Resorts," the company prospectus said.
