Family members, friends and colleagues are deeply worried about a young supermarket cashier who went missing for more than two weeks ago.

The missing person apparently left his work place to meet an unknown friend in Sharjah.

An official source in Sharjah Police confirmed that it is investigating the case.

Nithish disappeared on Tuesday, July 21.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Ratheesh Mannath, brother of Nithish Mannath (26), said he has been searching frantically for about a week in hospitals, police stations and morgues to locate Nithish who disappeared on Tuesday, July 21.

“I am worried about my brother. I have been searching for him everywhere. His employer has filed ‘man missing’ cases in Dubai and Sharjah.

“I did not inform my parents about the mysterious disappearance of Nithish who reportedly went to Sharjah,” Ratheesh, who works as a chef in a restaurant in Al Qouz, told Emirates 24|7.

“According to his colleagues, his mobile phone was answered on the same day that he disappeared and Nithish promised to return to the supermarket within half an hour.

“His mobile phone has remained switched off since then,” Ratheesh added.

“Nithish came for work on Tuesday morning and he changed his duty schedule for the afternoon with another counter staff.

“We have filed complaints with the police and the search is on,” said a partner of Fair Trade Supermarket on Sheikh Zayed Road, where he worked.

“Nithish used to go out in taxis and return home late. We don’t know what happened to him on that day. As per his last phone call, he was in Rolla, Sharjah,” added another colleague.

His employer is currently in the USA on a personal visit and could not be contacted for comment.

“I work in a restaurant owned by the same group that runs the supermarket. I brought him to work in the supermarket,” added a colleague who has been working in the restaurant for more than eight years.

“Nithish did not have his national ID card because it was being renewed,” added Ratheesh.

The family belongs to Thillankary in Kannur district of Kerala, India.

The elder brother has been telling everyone he comes across to contact him on 050-9216032 if they have any information about the missing Nithish.

“Nithish’s mobile phone number was changed when he went to India on vacation three months ago.

“The mobile remain switched off,” Ratheesh said, adding that he is not aware of his missing brother having any financial or mental problems.
