Butterfly Park to spruce up Dubai’s Miracle Garden

Dubai’s Miracle Garden is going for expansion with the addition of “Butterfly Garden”, which will open by October this year, Emirates24|7 can reveal.

“We are closing on May 30 and will reopen in October… the phase 2 will be ready by then which will have a Butterfly Garden and Aromatic Garden,” Farhan Shehzad, Project Manager, Akar Landscaping Services & Agriculture, the developer’s of Miracle Garden, told this website.

Asked where are they getting the butterflies from, he said: “We are importing mother flies and will starting producing them over here.”

In February, Dubai Municipality said phase one of Dubai Safari, which includes a butterfly park, golf course, entertainment and recreational facilities, will open by March 2014.

Akar is also planning to make Miracle Garden in Dubailand a year-long destination by covering majority of the 72,000 square metre area by a glass dome.

“The garden will remain open year-long from next year and we do plan to make it an indoor destination by covering most of it by a glass dome.”

A variety of plant and flower species have been planted to create colourful mosaics and unique designs in the Garden, which has entered the Guinness Book of Records with the world’s biggest flower clock.

Miracle Garden is also aiming to enter the Guinness Book of Records for having the longest wall of flowers measuring 800 metres long and three metres high, and the largest pyramid of flowers with a base area of 144 square metres and a height of 10 metres.

In February, it was announced that the second phase of Miracle Garden will include the construction of a multi-story car park, a variety of high-end retail and commercial outlets such as restaurants, souvenir shops and plant nurseries with over one million visitors expected to visit the garden in the coming 12 months.
