An accident was reported on Mohammed bin Zayed Road, earlier known as Emirates Road, with Sharjah-bound traffic piling up considerably.
A reader called Emirates24|7 to inform that the traffic had slowed down “just before the National Paints bridge” after a car had overturned.
“I have been stuck in the traffic jam for over 20 minutes now,” he narrated.
With the weekend road traffic to the emirate starting early, there’s a huge pile up.
“The police have cordoned off the damaged vehicle, and have blocked three to four lanes,” he added.
The witness was unable to identify the damaged car accurately. “I think it is a Mercedes car.”
The reader speculated that the accident occurred when the car skidded over some substance that spilled from a truck.
