Chef saved after hand caught in meat mincer

Dubai hospital rescuers saved the hand of an Indian hotel chef after it was caught in a meat mincer and threatened his life, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The unnamed chef had suffered from excruciating pains and bleeding when his hand was caught by accident inside the machine, prompting the medical staff members from Rashid Hospital to give him first aid at the hotel before transferring him to hospital.

“The man could have lost his hand and could have even died in the absence of urgent first aid intervention,” said Mashaal Galfar, head of the emergency at the hospital.

“Our staff members are trained to deal with such cases as they managed to save a Filipino whose hand was stuck inside a dough machine a few months ago..”

He told the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm that the Indian chef was rushed to hospital after having an onsite treatment, adding that that his hand was saved in an operation at the hospital.
