Child falls to death from 8th floor in Abu Dhabi

A 9-year old Syrian girl fell to her death from an eighth-floor apartment of a building on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi.

After Abu Dhabi Police was informed about the accident, an ambulance was rushed to the place and the child taken in critical condition to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City where she died later.

Major General Nasser Lakhraibani Al Nuaimi , Secretary General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior ; Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior, said that it was unfortunate that incidents of children falling from windows and balconies of their homes are recurring. He urged parents not to allow children to sit in places where there is a danger of them falling down. He also advised building owners and developers to take child protection into consideration while designing buildings.

Lieutenant Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari urged parents to take safety measures to reduce chances of their children meeting with accidents like falling from balconies or windows of their apartments.
