Child identifies Sharjah rapist a year later

An Arab man who had thought he had got away with it after raping a 10-year-old girl in Sharjah came face to face with the girl’s father in prison nearly a year later.

The confrontation later led to his exposure.

After raping the little girl in a park in the emirate at night, the criminal quickly climbed the wall after hearing voices approaching him and fled the place.

A year later, the girl’s father was jailed for a few days in a financial case.

While there, police brought a man on charges of raping a nine-year-old Arab boy and the victim was then asked to identify him from among a queue of criminals.

After the rapist was identified, the girl’s father recalled his daughter’s incident and suspected that the man who was identified could also be his daughter’s rapist.

He became more suspicious when the man told him that he lives in Al Qassimiya neighbourhood, where his daughter was raped.

He then told the officer about his suspicions and asked if he could bring his daughter to jail to see if she can identify him.

“The officer agreed and asked the man to call his wife to bring her daughter…when she came to jail, the girl was shown a line of criminals, including that man. She quickly recognised him and told police about the rape,” Al Khaleej daily said.
