Ras Al Khaimah municipality in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Services will ensure owners of animals fix special optical tags on the bodies of the animals to avoid collision with vehicles, ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper reported.
This comes as part of the recommendation of a study conducted by the RAK civic body to reduce accidents involving animals in the emirate.
This comes in the wake of two deaths due to an accident involving four camels on a road in the emirate recently.
Munzir bin Shukr Al Zaabi, Director-General of RAK Municipality, said that this will help in dealing with the stray animals which some community members harbour in residential areas.
Also, the optical light-label tags follow complaints of many people of poor visibility at night especially after rainfall.
On the other hand, animal owners have blamed the drivers of ignoring boards which warn drivers of animals on certain roads. They said motorists are behind such accidents where they drive at high speeds on such roads.
