The Dubai Misdemeanor Court received on Wednesday a memorandum from the Dubai Control Department commenting on the report prepared by the Deyaar auditor.

The auditor was assigned following a request made by Ali Al Shamsi, the lawyer of the first accused in the Deyaar 3 case, ZS.

Al Shamis asked the court to allow him to review the memorandum of the Dubai Control Department. The jury presided by Judge Rifaat Mahmoud Talba agreed on the request.

In the Deyaar 3 case, nine people - identified as ZS, American; JK, Indian; SB, Lebanese; KM, Argentinean; HS, Palestinian; JB, Indian; HS, Pakistani; JM, Indian (fugitive); and NS, Indian - were accused of stealing and embezzling $74 million (Dh271.8m).

This is a sub-case of the Deyaar corruption and embezzlement case in which former minister and chairman of Deyaar, MK, former CEO, ZS, and GM, Indian fugitive, were the accused.

The nine accused attended the hearing with their lawyers. The plaintiff’s lawyer insisted on all civil rights claims and asked for time to review the submitted memorandum.

The defence lawyer of the fourth accused yesterday asked the court for bailing his client for whatever guarantee it may deem convenient. Similarly, the lawyer of the third accused asked the court to bail his client pleading that he had been in custody for the past three years.

The court adjourned the case until August 9.
